When police arrested Kerouac as a material witness, they held him in the Bronx jail. And the director does some flitting of his own, through time with flashbacks, through space with abrupt switches in perspective, and through an eyebrow-notcher of a sequence that conflates three significant penetrations: Burroughs shooting heroin, Ginsberg's first sexual encounter, and the stabbing that will put a period on one fraught situation while creating another one entirely. This unease was not only a private matter but also one for the detectives in 1944. The story revolves around a specific event involving the pioneers and leaders of The Beat Generation, Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe), Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston), and William S. When its heroes go on drug-fueled binges, so does his camera - at one point freezing other patrons at a jazz club in place so the amphetamine-buzzed poets can flit around them. Kill Your Darlings, a 2013 biographical Drama directed, co-written, and co-produced by John Krokidas in his feature-length film debut. First-time director John Krokidas doesn't make Kill Your Darlings terribly linear.
